A 1970 EB-0 with a slotted headstock!
The EB-0 features a traditional Gibson SG-shaped double-cutaway body and a distinctive short scale.
From its introduction in 1959 until production ended in 1979, it underwent several specification changes.
This particular instrument features a mahogany body, mahogany neck, and a slotted headstock.
This slotted headstock, reminiscent of a classical guitar, was only produced for a very short period starting in 1969.
It has a very simple structure with a single humbucker pickup.
The pickup is close to the neck end, producing the boomy bass tone characteristic of Gibson basses.
If Fender basses have a sound character closer to electric guitars, Gibson (especially the EB series) is characterized by a tone closer to an upright bass.
It produces a bass sound that envelops the space, which is surprising considering its lightweight body.
This instrument has been refretted upon arrival at our store.
There are some chips in the wood on the body top and back of the neck, but there is no feeling of snagging, and it does not affect playability. The neck is straight, and the playing condition is good.
