• Tuners: Gold Waverly with Snakewood buttons
• Other Premium Details: Figured Koa heelcap and wedge, bone pins with black dots, high-gloss deep sunburst finish
Condition: Like new / pristine. It has been lightly played and meticulously maintained. No dings, scratches, or issues whatsoever — it looks and plays like it just left the shop. Includes the original hardshell case, all case candy, and the original build sheet.
Tone & Playability: Dana Bourgeois designed the OMS as the 12-fret version of the OM, placing the bridge at the widest point of the lower bout and shifting the soundhole toward the waist. This geometry gives maximum top drive with minimal effort, resulting in a loose, open, alive sound with added low-end power and fullness compared to 14-fret OMs.
This specific wood combination is exceptional: (I have not been able to locate another with this wood combination and configuration). My local Bourgeois dealer (who knows Dana personally) tells me this would have been his personal selection of woods etc. before he set any standards for the DB signature later models, so a very unique guitar)
• The torrified Bearclaw Adirondack top delivers bright, projective clarity and piano-like note separation with instant vintage snap.
• The figured mahogany sides (The Tree-like) bring rich, complex overtones and woody warmth.
• The figured Hawaiian Koa adds sweet, singing treble and complementary midrange.
The result is warm bass and mids, bell-like highs that decay sweetly, and effortless responsiveness. It excels at fingerstyle and chord-melody (quintessential for the historical 12-fret design) but also shines with strumming, chord work, and light flatpicking. Balanced and graceful enough for stage, studio, or living room — it just falls off your fingers.
This is a collector-grade, heirloom-quality instrument that plays and sounds as a high-end custom. should The boutique details (Dana’s personal wood selection, premium appointments, and outstanding craftsmanship) make it truly special and one that will continue to improve with age
