Seaside Modular Proteus - Algorithmic Generative Sequencer (16HP)
As new condition. Available for same-day postage.
Purchased directly from Seaside Modular in Los Angeles in 2026 and includes both the black and blue faceplates. Black faceplate fitted as per images. Build quality is exceptional - this is a small manufacturer doing things properly.
Selling purely because the sequencer is more than my current system requires. Currently out of stock with the manufacturer.
Proteus generates melodic sequences using an algorithm designed to mimic human melodic tendencies - favouring repeated notes, stepwise motion, and scale-appropriate intervals rather than pure randomness.
The core concept is a controllable attention span. Proteus loops a generated melody, then probabilistically decides to abandon it and create a new one based on the Patience parameter. The result sits in a useful middle ground between a locked sequence and fully random generation - structured enough to be musical, unpredictable enough to stay interesting.
Controls cover sequence length (2 to 32 steps), complexity, density, slew probability, octave transposition probability, note mutation, and pattern rotation. Nine built-in scales plus six custom slots programmable via web configurator or Scala file. Four pattern save slots survive power cycling. Full CV over all parameters.
A well-regarded module that consistently sells out from Seaside Modular directly.
