The Ibanez RG185WH is an electric guitar from the RG series, produced in Korea in the late 1990s.
It is essentially the "Korean" evolution of the 1998 Japanese RG185G model.
Production and Product Line
It is an introductory-series low-mid RG, with a model number starting with "1," thus positioned as an entry-level model compared to the Prestige and Premium lines.
It was produced in Korea during the period when Ibanez manufactured basic RG series and student-oriented models there, before transitioning to current production in Indonesia and China.
Body and Neck
The solid wood bolt-on body, typical of RG series guitars, features a double cutaway for good access to the upper frets.
The thin Wizard maple neck (or similar) has 24 frets and a rosewood fingerboard, in keeping with the RG philosophy of modern sound and easy playability.
Pickups, Hardware, and Finish
HSH (humbucker-single-humbucker) pickup configuration with Ibanez pickups, typical of many RG185/185-G models of that generation.
Gold hardware, a synchronized tremolo bridge, and a pearly pickguard for the WH (white) version give it a rather "vintage metal" look from the '90s.
Market Positioning
Construction-wise, it's a budget RG, but its build quality and materials are generally good for an entry-level model made in Korea.
Today, it's treated more like a small "curiosum" from the '90s than a high-end guitar, but it can be a good deal if well-maintained and convertible to hard rock/metal (perhaps by replacing the bridge and neck pickups).
