This 3-chip EPROM set loads your Alesis HR-16 or HR-16B with sounds from three iconic late-70s and 80s rhythm machines: the Casio RZ-1, Roland CR-78, and Cheetah MD16. Together they form an eclectic palette of vintage analog-sampled drum textures that defined lo-fi, post-punk, new wave, and early electronic music. The Roland CR-78 was the world's first programmable drum machine, famously heard on Phil Collins' In the Air Tonight and Blondie's Heart of Glass. The Casio RZ-1 introduced sample playback to budget drum machines in the mid-80s. The Cheetah MD16 was a British drum machine with wide dynamic range and unique sonic texture. WHAT IS INCLUDED: 3x custom-programmed EPROM chips, sounds from Casio RZ-1 + Roland CR-78 + Cheetah MD16, OS v2.0 firmware upgrade, no soldering required. Compatible with Alesis HR-16 and HR-16B. Note: For HR-16B, chip orientation is reversed - EPROM 16 installs into socket U15.
