Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at an older AMD 38-015 model crystal microphone from the 1950's or early 60's era. This unique microphone was an earlier model offered by what is now a somewhat obscure Japanese microphone company and was intended as an affordable general purpose microphone set at high impedance. It comes with the original short cable shown in which to operate and the period Aiwa desk stand in which to display.
AMD like quite a few other Japanese companies is no longer in business but when they were they developed and sold quite a few crystal models and a few dynamic models as well. This particular model was also sold under the Argonne and Rystl brand name.
It should be noted right away that while this mic still works with the original element the signal strength is weak for a crystal model. Maybe 30% so it would be far better off as a display model.
The 38-015 has a classic bullet design that was very popular back in the 1940's and 50's. The design is pretty unique. It an all metal housing with a painted body and chrome grill.
This mic model is appx 4 1/2 inches long (including the lower joint mechanism) X 2 1/4 inches wide and it will screw onto any American vintage stand as the thread is the universal 5/8 X 27 size. The tightening screw on the sides work just as they should but it tightens counter clockwise which is the opposite of what is normal. Those silly Japanese designers! ;)
As you can see the mic shows typical lite wear. The paint is original and shows just a few imperfections in the form of small scuff marks and scratches. The front grills chrome is pretty good but does have some heavier spots of pitting. The inner screen / pop filter is free of odors or rips. Mic has it's two red logos and the lower chrome joint mechanism works as good as it looks.
I'd give the mic a solid 6 on a scale of 1 - 10.
The short cable is original. Soft, pliable and has the vintage Japanese female 1/4 inch end connector.
MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE...
The stand is a period Aiwa model with an adjustable upper riser to get a bit of length as needed. The stand isn't the prettiest but it's not terrible either. It has what's known as "patina".
The Aiwa stand is an all metal deign with original black paint and dual chrome risers. The stand shows a bit of wear but functions perfectly. Please let the detailed pics be your guide.
The mic on stand is appx 13 inches tall X 5 inches wide but the mic can be raised up to 18 inches if needed.
The stand is a true 5 + on a scale of 1 - 10.
As with all my vintage microphones...
