Up for sale is a rare and beautifully preserved 1958-59 Sonola SUPERAMP, which is actually a Guild 66‑J built in Hoboken, NJ and rebranded for Sonola’s guitar and accordion market!!

This is an early, collector‑grade example with its original Jensen P12R (date code 220815 — 15th week of 1958), untouched circuit, original RCA 6V6 power tubes, and the extremely hard‑to‑find original wood tremolo footswitch.

These early Sonola‑badged Guilds almost never surface in this condition!

Video below to hear samples of amp.

⭐️ Features

• Built by Guild in Hoboken, NJ

• Sold under the Sonola SUPERAMP badge (rare)

• Original Jensen P12R alnico speaker (220815)

• Original RCA 6V6 power tubes and 5Y3GT rectifier

• Dual 6V6 power section (~20 watts)

• Bias‑vary tremolo with Speed & Intensity

• MK–ACC and Instruments input channels

• Original transformers

• Original red phenolic eyelet board

• Original tolex, grille, and hardware

• Original wood footswitch included (almost never seen)

There are a few minor items that may have been replaced such as the leather carrying strap, the rubber feet, and I don’t believe the originals came with metal corner protectors. The original two prong AC cord was upgraded to a three prong for safety, but I have the original AC cord that came out of the amp. See pictures. Also in the pictures is the original schematic which is stapled on the backside of the amps back cover.

🎛️ Condition

• Circuit is 100% original — caps, resistors, wiring, transformers (as far as I can tell anyway. See pics).

• Tremolo works beautifully - See/hear video

• No mods, no rewire, no speaker swap

• Original RCA 6V6s test strong and sound fantastic

• Cabinet shows light, honest wear

• Footswitch cable and switch function properly

• Runs quiet and stable for its age

This is a true time capsule. Recently serviced for sale.

🎙️ Tone

Warm, dynamic cleans and smooth, musical breakup ; very much in the vein of a late‑’50s Fender tweed Deluxe, but with Guild’s unique East‑Coast voice. The P12R adds classic alnico chime and compression. Tremolo is lush and vintage‑perfect.

The original RCA 6V6s deliver the authentic late‑’50s response that modern tubes simply can’t replicate.
