Offered for your consideration is a 1944 Martin 000-18 acoustic guitar (Serial No. 896XX), retaining its original natural finish, bridge, and frets. As a wartime-era instrument, it features period-correct details, including the absence of bushings around the string posts and the use of an ebony reinforcing rod in the neck for metal conservation, making it notably lightweight.

This guitar shows honest play wear and has had several repairs, including two repaired top cracks, three repaired back cracks, two repaired side cracks, along with a filled hole in both the top and side.  All of the work was done before I owned it, and everything is stable. The headstock is clean, aside from light surface wear and finish checking, with no extra holes, including beneath the Kluson Deluxe tuners. All interior braces are tight and secure.

Set up for excellent playability, with perfect low action and relief, approximately 0.085" on the 6th string and 0.060" on the 1st string at the 12th fret. The back of the neck is exceptionally clean for its age, with a comfortable soft V profile, and it is currently strung with a fresh set of Martin Flexible Core phosphor bronze strings.

Tonally, this 000-18 is outstanding, delivering a rich midrange, excellent balance, and piano-like harmonic complexity. It is a truly inspiring instrument that is a joy to play.
