Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a quality 1st generation dynamic microphone manufactured by Electro Voice and was on occasion sold under license to Newcomb Audio Products as well as DuKane and Ampex during the early 1950's to early 1960's. This 636 model mic was actually made for almost 20 years and ended as the 2nd generation 636 in the late 1960's but this model is the 1st generation. This mic comes with the long cable shown in which to operate and original 636 box.

Pic # 2 shows this very model mic in an old E.V catalog along with some other models of E.V from that era.

This mic was often used back in the day by entertainers and musicians such as Richie Valens while performing live as seen in pic # 3.

This 636 microphone was a quality affordable model that was very modern for it's time being slim, lite weight and the user could either hold it like a modern microphone or simply screw it onto a mic stand with the lower pistol grip. It was used for both broadcasting and singing.

This 636 works like new with a strong signal currently set at high impedance. These mics were dual impedance depending how the mic or cable was wired. In the low Z setting you get more bass but this example is void of bass and again, High Z. The High Z setting gives you more of an old school "rockabilly" sound that some musicians try to replicate today. The polished chrome housing is absolutely mint and you just won't find a nicer example.

The cable provided is in excellent shape and 12 feet in length. It's soft, pliable and free of any cracks or dry rot. It has the standard male Switchcraft 1/4 inch end connector which will work with most audio equipment and all guitar amplifiers.

The mic has a gorgeous luster on the satin chrome finish. It's free scuff marks, dents or corrosion. Just a few lite scratches on the end of the tube and bezel as seen in pic # 11. The front screen is perfect. No odors or dents. The E.V badge looks incredible as well and the on / off switch works as it should. No issues. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. I would rate this 636 model mic a very conservative 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

The box also shows lite wear but it has a nice foam insert inside and it's a great place to store everything when not in actual use.

Mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

As with all my vintage microphones...
