This custom Grand Auditorium pairs a striped sinker redwood top and walnut back and sides, an uncommon pairing of top-tier woods that yields a versatile blend of crisp trebles and woody depth. Earning its moniker from the rich visual effect caused by minerals absorbed while submerged, striped sinker redwood serves up cedar-like warmth and touch sensitivity with impressive power and headroom. Inside, scalloped V-Class bracing draws out more presence in the low end and improves the open-string response while enhancing volume, sustain and pitch accuracy. Our long-tenon Action Control Neck further dials up resonance while enabling easy, fast string height adjustments. A Brown Sugar color treatment on the back and sides emphasizes the walnut’s distinct grain pattern, imparting a sense of visual depth accented by Capstone fretboard inlays, a matching rosette and a suite of other details in mother of pearl and Hawaiian koa.
