Thomas Organ Crybaby 95-910511, no box.
This pedal is beat to death on the outside, but still has that classic crybaby sound.
Pedal was fully tested and works as it should. Very slight amount of hiss back and forth when played.
The Thomas Organ Cry Baby, introduced in 1967, is the original wah-wah pedal, developed by Brad Plunkett to emulate a vocal sweep, initially produced in California and later Italy. Renowned for its organic, "vocal" tone, it is a predecessor to modern Dunlop models, frequently using "Stack of Dimes" inductors and featuring a 1970s, "built-like-a-tank" design.
Key Information on Thomas Organ Cry Baby Pedals
- Origins: Developed in 1966-1967 by Thomas Organ Company engineer Brad Plunkett, who was trying to replace the midrange boost switch on a Vox Super Beatle amp.
- Production & Eras: First produced in Sepulveda, California, in 1967 before production shifted to Italy (often EME/Eko). They are considered "pre-Dunlop" vintage units.
- Sound Profile: Noted for a musical, vocal, and expressive sweep.
- Key Components: Many 1970s models featured "Stack of Dimes" inductors.
- Variations:
- Standard Wah: The classic 1967–1981 wah-wah, often branded "Crybaby" or "Vox" (V846).
- Fuzz/Wah/Volume: A 1970s model (e.g., 9-3701) that combined a silicone fuzz circuit with a wah in a single enclosure.
- Modern Comparison: Often compared to the modern Dunlop GCB95, with vintage units prized for their unique, often warmer, "vocal" vintage tone, as described in this Reverb article.
