This is a famous Sphere Fab 500 mic pre in excellent condition. Want a different crayon in your color box of mic pres, well this it. You don't find these everyday. We are only selling because we have a few and only plan on keeping two to make room for more modules.

This one channel mic pre has a big, huge open sound
with tons of headroom, they produce an incredibly huge sound on drums, bass, vocals and guitars. It is a classic 70's sounding pre.

This mic pre is an exact replica of the original Sphere mic pres (down to the same input and output transformers, and proprietary opamp, ) they have a big open sound with tons of headroom and sound incredible on drums and bass and everything we have tried them on. Current users of Sphere products are Ryan Adams, Jay Joyce (producer Cage the Elephant, Coheed and Cambria and Eric Church, Keith Urban) and many more.

Sphere is the company that the owner and the chief engineer of Electrodyne, consoles formed in the early 70's. They began to manufacture a line of custom and semi-custom recording and audio consoles for recording studios.

Many of the designs that were invented at Electrodyne were improved and perfected in the Sphere consoles. They became highly valued and respected consoles in the American music arena and were best known for incredible sounding mic pre and their musical EQ's especially the 900 series graphic console EQ's, a 9-band graphics equalizer. Great records like the Rolling Stones Some Girls were cut on Sphere consoles and tons of classic R&B as well since it was the main desk at the famous Sigma Sound in Philly.
