Shure SM53 1970s

Up for sale is a vintage Shure SM54 dynamic cardioid microphone, manufactured in the USA during the 1970s–80s. This is a high-quality, broadcast-style mic known for its durability, unique design, and smooth, clear sound. Made famous by Elvis in the 70s.

• Fully tested and 100% functional
• Clear output with no hum or noise
• Some cosmetic wear consistent with age:
  • Light scuffs/scratches on the body
  • Slight rust on the grille (purely cosmetic, does not affect performance)
• Overall in solid vintage condition

Performance

• Cardioid pickup pattern works properly
• Output is slightly lower than an SM58 (typical for this model), so it performs best with a preamp or interface that provides adequate gain
• Produces a clear, articulate tone, great for vocals, speech, or vintage-style recording
• Good resistance to plosives thanks to the larger integrated grille/pop filter
