The Epiphone Joe Bonamassa “Lazarus” 1959 Les Paul Standard is a remarkable tribute to one of the most famous guitars in Joe Bonamassa’s legendary collection. Inspired by Bonamassa’s restored 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard nicknamed “Lazarus,” this model recreates the look, feel, and tone of the iconic instrument that was literally brought back to life after being discovered in poor condition and later restored to reveal its stunning flame maple top.
Part of Epiphone’s Inspired by Gibson Collection, the Lazarus combines vintage design with premium components typically found on much higher-priced guitars. A mahogany body with a maple cap is topped with a striking wide-grain AAAA flame maple veneer, delivering the classic Les Paul look and rich sustain associated with the original late-1950s instruments.
The guitar features a one-piece mahogany neck with a long neck tenon, a first for an Epiphone Les Paul model, providing enhanced resonance and vintage-correct construction. The comfortable ’59 rounded C neck profile paired with a 12″ radius fingerboard ensures a smooth playing experience for both rhythm and lead styles.
For authentic vintage tone, the Lazarus is equipped with Gibson BurstBucker™ humbuckers, delivering warm, dynamic PAF-style sound with excellent clarity and sustain. These pickups are paired with 50s-style wiring, CTS potentiometers, and Mallory capacitors, giving players the expressive response and tonal control associated with classic Les Paul circuits.
