Tangi of Hawaii Pineapple Soprano Ukulele
I am selling a Tangi of Hawaii Pineapple soprano ukulele dated 2004, number 132.
The ultimate beater ukulele, it was obviously abused in the past and crudely glued back together, the multiple cracks visible and palpable. Perhaps it was used as a weapon in a bar fight? Perhaps it’s a remnant of a particularly vicious el kabonging?
With that said, the instrument has a scarred beauty, the look of an instrument with a patina of hard traveling and primitive upkeep, an instrument that was cruelly treated but ultimately found its way.
But here’s the odd thing: the action is great, the cracks are stable (so far), and it really sounds terrific.
The brand Tangi of Hawaii was created by luthiers Tangi Tully and his dad, Jim Tully, in 1993 working out of a small shop in Hawaii, but Tangi stopped making instruments long ago, and there’s only a limited number of Tangi ukuleles available nowadays, and far fewer of this particular model. Do a google search and you’ll see what I mean.
