Overview

The Yamaha S70XS is a professional 76-key stage synthesizer designed for live performance and studio work. Introduced in 2009 as part of Yamaha’s XS series, the S70XS combines the powerful sound engine of the flagship MOTIF XS workstation with a balanced hammer-action keyboard for expressive piano-style playing.

The instrument features Yamaha’s AWM2 tone generation with Expanded Articulation technology, delivering highly detailed acoustic and electric pianos, synths, organs, and orchestral sounds. It includes over 1,000 voices, 128-note polyphony, and a large sample library including piano samples taken from Yamaha’s S6 concert grand.

Built for performers, the S70XS offers real-time control sliders, assignable knobs, layering and split capabilities, USB audio recording, and DAW remote control functions. A built-in microphone input allows singers to plug directly into the keyboard for quick recording or live performance setups.
