A beautifully restored marching snare drum from Sonor. The brass shell, bearing the Sonor logo—a symbol of the post-war era and the hand-selected quality of the German drum manufacturer—measures approximately 34 x 11 cm. The old, unusable wooden hoops have been replaced with matte black steel hoops. Small grooves for the brass claws and, of course, two holes for the snare wires have been machined into the hoops. The copper threaded rods serve as free-floating tension rods, and to ensure consistent tuning and visual harmony, they have been fitted with nickel-plated end caps and wing nuts.
Over the past 70 years, the shell has suffered some minor damage, such as scratches and dents. Nevertheless, it is beautiful to look at and in working order. Two additional holes have been drilled to attach the matte black vintage strainer. Choosing the strainer is easy, because to preserve not only the original sound but also the original playing feel, a simple design was chosen. And to complete the vintage look, the snare drum comes with new Stabil plastic heads.
