This ’70s Thin Lizzy beauty has seen a fair share of rock and roll in its lifetime but is still going strong. Everything has been tested and is in great working order. Electronics are fully functional, all controls operate as expected, and the truss rod is responsive.
Looks to be a two piece top which is rare for this period. Top is fairly clean, with light scuffing and scratching from play wear, some finish clouding, and a few small dents. The back of the guitar shows significant buckle wear, including two larger areas of exposed wood along with smaller dents and finish chips. The sides and edges also have various small dings and finish wear. The finish on the back of the neck has been worn down from years of playing, giving it a smooth, broken-in feel. This guitar has had just the right amount of love, with a patina and feel that Murphy Lab can’t replicate.
It appears that it had a refret at some point which in my opinion is an upgrade for these 70’s fretless wonders. Overall the frets are in great shape and allow for easy bending. Neck plays super fast and the mini humbuckers give it the growl of a Les Paul with the snap of a Tele.
The tuners were replaced with Grovers at some point. My guess is that this upgrade happened in the 70s. The guitar may have had electronic work done at some point (likely pots and/or caps), though I‘m not completely sure as I’ve never looked under the hood over the course of owning it. I’ve played countless gigs with it and have never had a reason to bring into the shop. Pickups are definitely original. Everything currently functions as it should. Tuning stability and intonation is incredible.
A non-original Gibson hard shell case, likely from the early 2000s, is included.
Don’t waste your money on a custom shop when you can have the real deal. Happy to answer any questions or send additional photos/videos. Thanks for looking!
