A Legend from the Ibanez Golden Era
Up for sale is this iconic Ibanez Musician MC900, the flagship of the Musician series, crafted at the legendary Terada/FujiGen plant in Japan during the late '70s. This model is world-renowned as the primary bass for Sting (The Police) and John McVie (Fleetwood Mac) during their peak years.
History & Construction: Introduced in 1978, the MC900 was Ibanez’s answer to high-end boutique basses. Its 5-piece Maple/Walnut Neck-through construction provides endless sustain and structural stability that has stood the test of time perfectly. The "wings" feature a sandwich design of ash and mahogany, delivering a punchy, "piano-like" clarity that few modern basses can replicate.
Electronics & Tone: This bass is a versatility monster thanks to its original active electronics:
- Super 4 Pickups: Famous for their low noise and wide dynamic range.
- Active 3-band EQ: For total tonal control.
- Pick up Switch: 3 position pick up selector.

- Body: Ash/Mahogany sandwich body.
- Neck: 5-piece Maple/Walnut (Neck-through).
- Fingerboard: Premium dark Ebony with abalone dot inlays.
- Bridge: Original Accu-Cast B (high-mass for maximum vibration transfer).
- Scale Length: 34 inches.
Condition & Details:
- Cosmetics: The bass is in great vintage shape but shows normal signs of aging on the hardware (some oxidation). There are a couple of dings as shown in the detailed photos. Please check the pictures carefully to see the exact condition.
- Playability: Despite the cosmetic wear, the bass plays flawlessly. The neck is straight and the frets have plenty of life left.
