You are looking at a slightly obscure but very high quality vintage 1970's / 80's era Electro Voice model PL-80 model dynamic super cardioid microphone that comes with a nice E.V mic clip and exterior foam pop filter. The PL-80 model is a very high quality E.V product made in the USA and sounds incredible. It has a beautiful smooth tone and would make for an ideal studio mic. Great for singing and broadcasting purposes.

 These PL-80 models seemed to have a short run of about 10 years or so before the 2nd generation PL80C was introduced in the 1990's which was basically the same mic with very subtle design and sound differences. I know that PL stood for "Professional Line". Otherwise, I'm a bit clueless about the history of these. The PL-80 had a pastel light grey painted body to cut down on unwanted light glare which was and could be a problem with the satin chrome microphones. It's an all metal construction and very rugged as well as being lite weight so it's very easy to hold for prolonged periods of time.

 If you buy an E.V PL80 make sure it has been properly gone over as these particular models come with a variety of issues that need to be addressed and they all need to be addressed trust me.

 The PL-80 has a very unique and more aggressive stick mic design as you can see in the pics provided. The PL-80 is appx 7 1/2 inches long X 2 1/14 inches wide at the tip. The E.V PL-80 is also set at low impedance with a very strong signal as well so you really don't need any gain on this model and it's a "super cardioid" model so it picks up much less background noise. Many of these older E.V mics from the 1980's and 90's are much better than the dynamic cardioid mics made today.

 As seen in the pics provided the painted body shows extremely lite signs of wear. Zero dents, fractures or corrosion. Just small tiny scratches on the painted finish. The E.V label is in very nice condition and completely legible. The front screens are very nice with no dents, odors or tarnish and there is no paint loss. The original inner pop filter was replaced as the original had all but fallen apart and is now in perfect condition. This will greatly improve the sound characteristics of the mic and will be greatly appreciated. I also took the time to clean the XLR pins in the mic for a perfect signal once the cable is attached which helps a ton. I'd rate the true cosmetic condition a 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

 Also provided is the nice Auray brand exterior black foam pop filter for even better sound performance that original. It fits the mic like a glove and looks great as well.

 The microphone takes a standard XLR cable which is not included. 

 The nice E.V mic clip is included and works very well with this PL-80 giving a good firm hold. You can hang this mic upside down from a boom arm with complete confidence that it won't slide out and fall. Mic clip shows extremely lite cosmetic wear and it works perfectly. It will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have.

 If you want something a little different with a lot of character and excellent performance...this PL-80 will do the trick.
