I would consider it in excellent condition, but marked it one lower in condition. I never know who is judging and how anal they take the smallest things, like “i thought the LED lights would be brighter or some shenanigans like that????? Ind then they want a refund!!! this has happened to me once before, so i always make sure to “over deliver” on the condition.
I also have this one with a custom red LED that indicates high signals while adjusting gain and resonance That may self oscillate. the standard LED is orange and i personally like the red more. This is an all time favorite of modules and for sure in my top three best filters. It is a Steiner Parker design, which is uncommon to find in filters. one of my favorite features of this filter is the rightmost two switches above the knobs. They allow you to choose if you would like a “cleaner” filter of more gritty, which I am a big fan of filters that ad lots of coloration. The next switch has a treble cleft and bass on the other side. this allows you to choose whether you would like the signal being processed to have more “coloration” on the higher or lower frequencies. this is a feature that is also uncommon for a filter to have. These are a couple of many features that make me love this filter. It offers cv on resonance and cutoff frequency. I believe you can get it to track v/oct if you spend some time twisting knobs and looking at a tuner. I also really like the preamp circuit. It also can add a good amount of saturation and distortion if you feel like cranking to 11. it also accepts the “nuts” that neutral labs offers to change the timbre of the filter so you can get a massive variety of sounds from this filter. If you don’t feel like buying the pack of nuts for 15$, you can also plug in capacitors, resistors, photo voltaic cells, and so on. Any analog component with through hole wires will work if the fit in the holes. and in the picture of the front you can see i have two nuts plugged in, so this means there are two rows you can mess with. Even try putting one lead in one row and the other lead in the other row. Go ahead and be creative to get some tones nobody else can replicate!
So altogether, I think this may actually be my favorite filter. I am only selling because i bought more kits to build and before there were not any kits available for a loooong time, so i don’t know if it was going to be discontinued. Also you can see my soldering skills are A+ as i used to work for blue mic.s building all the high end microphones (oops i wasn’t supposed to tell people that all their mics aren’t built in house, the lesser ones, which still are expensive are made in china and we just tested them and slapped a metal serial plate on them and put them in a fancy wood box lol.) I am only saying this as i stopped working there decades ago when a bunch of suits with no knowledge of music bought them out and “ number crunching” became a priority to quality.
Also if you want one of these you will have to build it yourself as i have only seen it offered as diy. This could be because the filter is completely analog. If you look at the pictures it is all basic comp meets you would see pre SMD components. It has old school resistors you can handle without tweezers and capacitors, diodes, etc. oh yeah, i stand by my work and guarantee all my work for 6 months so long as you’re not up to strange things like audio fetishes where you would slather multiple modules in mayo and rub them on your partner’s back while powering them on a flying bus board and patching together your “masterpieces”. Activities like this will void your warranty. I will ”smell” and returns and if there is a hint of condiments I WILL KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN UP TO!!!
so if all this sounds good and fun to you buy this one now or forever hold your peace.
