For sale is a dbx 2215 two-rackspace professional-grade, dual-channel 15-band graphic equalizer and limiter with noise reduction, designed for live sound applications, especially in installed systems.
This unit will be shipped with a standard IEC power cord. SHIPPING IS FREE.
This "set and forget" piece of processing gear is indeed great for installed systems. Dial in your room EQ curve (dual-channel with 15 bands per channel on standard ISO 2/3-octave centers), adjust dbx's "Peak Plus" limiter settings (threshold range of 0dBu to +24dBu) - this limiting circuitry is designed to protect audio systems by acting as a "brick wall" to control, or "tame," high-transient peaks, ensuring audio quality. That means your downstream power amps, speakers, and powered speakers won't have to deal with "runaway" levels.
If you'd like to go further, Type III Noise Reduction (not to be confused Dolby's noise reduction circuits, which are generally meant for recording applications) provides up to 20dB of broadband noise reduction, enhancing signal-to-noise ratios during quieter passages without affecting audio dynamics.
There are balanced XLR, 1/4" TRS, and barrier terminal strip inputs/outputs. You could have one pair of inputs, with this device used as a splitter to feed three different pairs of downstream poweramp/speaker combos, or powered speakers.
Now that you've heard from me about the 2215, here are the official marketing blurbs from the DBX website:
- Patent-pending PeakPlus™ Limiter threshold range from 0dBu to +24dBu (off) can transparently tame the wildest hits or the subtlest nuances of any signal
- An extremely high quality EQ, patent-pending Type III® Noise Reduciton, and the elegant new PeakPlus™ Limiter all in one great sounding box
- Four segment LED bargraph for BOTH Gain Reduction AND Output Level offers the most comprehensive visual feedback available
- Status LEDs offer visual feedback for all settings on the front panel
- Revolutionary instant encode/decode Type III® Noise Reduction in-circuit at the push of a button. Increases S/N ratio by up to 20dB
