Bay Area Vintage Guitars is proud to offer this exceptional and historically significant 1967 Fender Bassman AB165 head, paired with matching 2×12 cabinet, assembled on May 5, 1967, during Fender's golden era of amplifier production in Santa Ana, California.

This Fender Bassman Cabinet features some very cool punk prevenance; it is signed and dated by The Avengers' founding guitarist, Greg Ingraham, in 1977 (the year the band was formed), and was used on The Avengers' "Dangerhouse" single.

This is an original 1967 Fender Bassman AB165 head with a matching 2×12 cabinet, assembled on May 5, 1967, featuring original Schumacher transformers and AB165 circuitry.

The cabinet interior is signed and dated “Greg Ingraham – Avengers – 1977,” placing it directly within the formative San Francisco punk era. Greg Ingraham was the founding guitarist of The Avengers, who famously opened for the Sex Pistols at Winterland Ballroom in 1978.

The head retains its original transformers, pots, and wiring, with filter capacitors professionally replaced for reliability.

The cabinet is structurally original and now fitted with Avatar M65 speakers, hand-built in England by Fane for optimal performance.

Features:

  • Built May 5, 1967 (chassis date)
  • S/N A25054

Tone & Personality

Tone is exceptional: tight low end, rich midrange, and smooth breakup. These amps defined the sound of rock, blues, and early punk. It excels as a studio amp and shines with single-coil, P-90, or humbucker pickups alike.

Condition

Excellent vintage condition with nice cosmetics and full functionality. As noted in the pictures, there are a few minor blemishes and tears (is that Greg's cigarette burn?) in the tolex and patina across the chrome and control area. Overall, the condition is very good for 59 years old.
