How rare is UBER RARE!!!!

This is a true one-of-one Gibson Custom Shop prototype from the legendary Bozeman workshop, a uniquely crafted Chet Atkins SST ‘Artist’ Concept guitar, built to the highest standard by a master luthier and never released to the public.

Gibson Artist-Only’ guitars represent the most exclusive tier of instruments, and are not part of the standard production lines, or even standard Custom Shop limited editions. Instead, they are:

  • Built only for endorsing artist
  • Used in concept development
  • Presented for artist review, and comment
  • Crafted as high-level prototypes

This guitar carries the Sea Horse logo inlay on the headstock, the unmistakable mark of a top-tier Artist designation, reserved only for elite-level prototypes and private builds. There is no serial number, and the guitar is clearly marked “Prototype” inside the rear cavity. It was never made available to the public and remains a true one-off.

At the time of its creation, this Chet Atkins SST ‘Artist’ model was a cutting-edge fusion of acoustic tone and electric playability. It was among Gibson’s earliest forays into the now widely adopted slimline acoustic-electric hybrid format, offering:

  • Rich, natural tone with zero feedback
  • Superior stage performance
  • Comfort, precision, and unmatched elegance

Bozeman’s master craftsmanship is evident in every detail, from the flamed Sitka spruce top to the abalone-bound body and premium electronics. The build quality rivals, or exceeds anything in Gibson’s production history.
