1964 Pre-CBS, L-Series Jazz in original & rare matching Dakota Red.

All parts are original (except for the tug bar/screws pictured here — I do possess the original tug bar/screws, but as of this listing time, I lost track of their exact location in storage. They will be sent to the purchaser when found). Included are the original ashtray & PU shield, strap buttons w screws, original pups & pots, PG, control & neck plates, bridge & tuners, and a 70’s Fender case. Please note that some pics show the bass without the pickup covers, as this is how I always used the bass. I’ve owned this since 1973, am a non-smoker, and only occasionally use it now, but the electronics are clean and work well.

This bass is a great player, by far the easiest playing of all my Fenders, with unimaginable neck ease, inimitable ‘64 Jazz tone, and a solid but easy weight. It deserves more play time than my occasional orchestral doubler’s usage. The p’ups offer not only iconic burp & grow, they are very sensitive and dynamic, offering amazing player expressivity. The currently fresh Thomastik Jazz Flats embrace these characteristics, emphasizing the woody qualities.

The neck is straight and stable, the truss rod functions well. Frets might be half spent, there are no outstanding issues. It‘s a smooth player, and the pots are clean. Weight on bathroom scale is in range of 8.5- 9 pounds.

Your bass will be very carefully packed, and shipped in a fully functional, nicely restored 70’s Fender case in good, solid condition, exactly like the one this bass was kept in from my high school ownership, beginning 1973, and through around 2016 (when I started using a road case), full circle.

I am happy to provide additional photos or specs on request.

Local pickup saves us both shipping cost.
