Roland CDX-1 Disc Lab in fair condition being sold AS-IS. This unit has the expanded 128MB RAM module installed. It comes with third party power supply, as well as 8 blank CD-RW disc and 2 CD-R disc loaded with samples.
By far the most tedious and obscure piece of equipment Roland has ever produced.
This unit functions as intended, but does have some quirks.
The Pad Rec button is sometimes finicky. I don't believe it is the tactile switch causing the issue, I believe it is the firmware. Once you power on the machine it takes a few clicks of the button to get machine to recognize input. After that it will work fine with one click till machine is powered off. When you power the machine on again you have to repeat said process if you want to use the Pad Rec button. I attempted to update firmware via a USB to MIDI cable, but it did not work with the brand cable I used. I'm assuming the latest firmware update would fix this issue, as it seems software related rather than electrical input related.
Cosmetically the machine has some blemishes, scratches and scrapes. Please review photos as I did my best to document condition of unit. It is missing the plastic front cover for CD eject tray. Also the phones volume knob cover is non original.
If you are interested in this machine and have never used one previously please read the Manual from Roland to understand what you are getting into. Everything created on this machine is a labor of love. It can be very difficult to use.
It only works with certain brand of CD-RW disc. Disc must be formatted prior to using which can take fifteen to forty minutes depending on style of format selected.
Once again please research this piece of equipment if you are interested because it is not for the faint of heart.
