I am offering a Fender Masterbuilt Greg Fessler Thinline Telecaster Relic Pink Paisley from 2017, a handcrafted by renown Fender Masterbuilder Greg Fessler in Corona, California (USA), luxury reissue model of a 1967 Thinline Telecaster with a selected semi-hollow alder body (at a total weight of only 2.97kg!), bolt-on quartersawn maple neck with '60s oval “C” neck profile and 42mm bone nut, fine maple fingerboard with 9.5" radius, two sonically hot Seymour Duncan P-90 singlecoil pickups, hardtail vintage bridge with bent steel saddles and legendary Schaller F-Stamp vintage tuners in an elaborately aged pink paisley relic finish with white pearloid pickguard in mint collector's condition, including black Fender deluxe hardshell case, manufacturer's papers, and professional setup with 10-gauge Elixir strings.

Similar to the Private Stock category at PRS, Fender Masterbuilt guitars represent the absolute pinnacle of what the Fender Custom Shop has to offer. Each Masterbuilt is completely handcrafted by a single masterbuilder—from the first piece of wood to the final setup. The honor of being allowed to build guitars as a masterbuilder at Fender is one of the highest distinctions awarded by the traditional guitar maker, and is bestowed upon only a handful of long-time employees.

Greg Fessler is one of the most renowned masterbuilders at the Fender Custom Shop. He has been part of the Fender team since the early 1990s and has earned an excellent reputation over the decades for his extraordinary attention to detail, his deep understanding of classic vintage specifications, and his flair for authentic relic finishes. The result? Precise craftsmanship, carefully selected woods, and a particularly lively, resonant response are the hallmarks of Fessler's instruments—no wonder his guitars are highly sought after by professional musicians and collectors worldwide.

This extraordinary reinterpretation of the legendary 1967 Thinline Telecaster, specially crafted by Greg Fessler for NAMM 2017, is an excellent example of this, combining iconic design with modern specs.

The selected semi-hollow alder body with F-hole, weighing less than 3kg, provides an open, airy tone with fast response and impressive dynamics. The iconic Pink Paisley finish, here in an elaborately executed relic design, references the psychedelic era of the late 1960s and has been authentically aged by Greg Fessler with great attention to detail.

The bolt-on quartersawn maple neck with a classic '60s oval C neck profile and partially sanded back offers a distinctly high-quality feel and combines vintage character with modern ergonomics. In combination with the 42mm bone nut, the 9.5" fingerboard radius, and the 21 Sanko 6105 frets, the result is precise, modern playability that allows for effortless bending and vibrato without losing the traditional character. The maple fingerboard with black dot inlays fits in visually with the classic Telecaster concept.

In terms of sound, Greg Fessler deliberately opted for two Seymour Duncan P-90 singlecoils, which deliver a powerful, open tone with pronounced mids, silky highs, and a robust attack. Compared to classic Tele singlecoils, the P-90s offer more assertiveness and—especially with the timbre of the semi-hollow construction—warmth without sacrificing transparency, making them ideal for blues, indie, classic rock, alternative, and dynamic clean playing.

A sound sample of the model can be found at the top of the photo gallery.

The Masterbuilt Paisley Thinline Telecaster is a true showpiece instrument, built specifically for NAMM 2017 and available for order by dealers only at that event. This gives it special significance not only musically, but also historically. The combination of Greg Fessler's relic work, Paisley design, semi-hollow construction, and P-90 pickups makes this instrument an extremely rare and coveted Custom Shop variant.
