To fund a personal project, I'm selling this stunning Jaguar from the land of the Rising Sun…
This guitar is part of Fender's 2025 Special Run series, made in collaboration with Kinko Music in Kyoto to a higher spec than the regular Fender Japan run.
Fender Japan Traditional series guitars are known for their top-notch build quality. Unlike the Ensenada and Corona factories, every employee on the production line is a certified luthier. Various experts rank this model on par with the American Professional series, and well above the Mexican-made Vintera or Classic Player in terms of finish and specs. Since 2018, Fender Japan has used the same electronics and dimensions as Fender USA: all screw holes, plates, etc. are compatible with the American Pro, Vintage, and Custom Shop series.
What's different from the standard MIJ series:
- Alder body instead of basswood
- Fender Pure Vintage '65 Single-Coil Jaguar pickups: made in the US, more refined tone, and squeal-free compared to the regular MIJ pickups.
- Mid-'60s "C" neck profile instead of "U", slightly shallower and closer to 1960s Fenders
- 7.25" fretboard radius
- Medium Jumbo frets instead of the small Vintage frets
- Mustang-style bridge, which holds the strings in the saddle grooves better than a classic Jaguar bridge
- Dot inlays and neck binding, a nod to the 1964–1965 transition period
- Can accept a Fender Mute
Two small custom touches:
- Neck shim: installed to slightly tilt the neck angle and increase string tension over the Mustang bridge saddles. The strings sit more securely in the grooves, with zero unwanted buzz.
- Modified wiring with a series middle position: both pickups coupled in series, accessible in the "off" position of both pickup switches. All original positions/settings are left intact.
Condition
- Like new, no scratches or dings on the body or neck.
- The only playing marks are scuffs on the pickguard, and light fading of the bridge saddles' nickel plating.
Weight
- 3.8 kg (8.4 lbs)
I love everything about this guitar: the neck feel is unparalleled, the whole guitar has very nice resonance and acoustic projection, the tremolo is smooth and rattle-free, the pickups sound great whatever the level of gain you throw at them...
Secure shipping guaranteed in a guitar-specific box and cushioning material. After ordering, please allow me a couple of days' time so I can pick up a suitable box from a local guitar shop.
All paperwork from Fender Japan and Kinko Music will be included.
Happy to chat further via DM. I can record and send you a video demo - just ask.
