Description
Offered here is an authentic Western Electric 757A studio monitor loudspeaker from the immediate post-war period (circa 1946–1948), retaining its original Western Electric drivers, crossover network, cabinet construction, and factory cabinet identification decal.
The cabinet retains its original Western Electric 757A decal (“Western Electric – 757A Loudspeaker – Made in U.S.A.”), confirming the enclosure as a genuine factory 757A monitor cabinet. Surviving examples with intact cabinet decals are uncommon.
This early 757A configuration is equipped with the original Western Electric 754A low-frequency loudspeaker and the original 713-series high-frequency compression driver (KS-12027 variant), both confirmed by their factory identification plates. The internal crossover network, wiring harness, and terminal assembly remain intact and unmodified.
The system is fully operational, with both drivers producing clean, balanced output without distortion.
Components
- Western Electric 757A monitor cabinet (original factory decal present)
- Western Electric 754A low-frequency loudspeaker (factory frame label present)
- Western Electric 713-series high-frequency compression driver, KS-12027 variant (factory plate present)
- Original Western Electric crossover/network assembly
- Original internal wiring and terminals
Configuration & Dating
The presence of the 754A low-frequency driver indicates an early 757A production configuration from approximately 1946–1948, prior to later adoption of the 728-series woofer. This driver complement is historically correct for the earliest Western Electric 757A studio monitors.
Condition
Fully operational. Drivers produce clean, undistorted output across their range. All major components are original Western Electric and period-correct. Cabinet structure is solid with cosmetic wear consistent with age. Internal network and wiring remain intact and unmodified. No modern replacement parts observed.
Historical Context
The Western Electric 757A was produced in very limited numbers for broadcast, recording, and laboratory monitoring applications in the late 1940s. Surviving examples are extremely scarce, particularly in complete and working condition with original Western Electric drivers and cabinet identification decal intact.
Shipping
Due to rarity and value, this speaker will be professionally packed and crated. Freight shipping or white-glove delivery recommended.
Summary
A rare early Western Electric 757A studio monitor retaining its original 754A and 713-series drivers, factory crossover network, and original cabinet identification decal. Fully operational and historically correct. Suitable for advanced Western Electric collections, studio heritage displays, or museum-grade vintage audio systems.
