AND INDEED, MOST OF NASHVILLE'S TOP-LINE SESSION PLAYERS SEEM TO HAVE THEM.

Made in 2016, this superb guitar is an example of the best incarnation of this model. It was recently replaced by the new version that has no locking tuners or the special 12 string bridge, has a less good-looking black back and comes in a gig bag, instead of my SIX latch case! (So in case you are wondering why my price is close to that of a new one, there's your answer!)

I have owned quite a few 12 strings, but all were fiddly to tune and/or had narrow nuts. When I was mainly just song-writing I could live with that, but once I got back to covers and doing gigs, the dreaded "gimme a minute to tune up!" made me look around for a top-line modern solution.

I bought this one 5 years ago from a London session guitarist who loved it, but wasn't getting that many recording parts requiring a 12 string. He had always kept it in it's 'bullet-proof' case and so have I, so it's in superb condition. The front is strong two colour red burst and the rear is a lovely deep crimson red like on vintage Gibson necks (see pic).

Duesenberg's tried and trusted neck P90 and bridge Humbucker combination give all kinds of great tonal flavours and the taper on the pots is just superb. The knurled tuners are the best answer to the tuning challenges of a 12 string ... er, essentially it STOPS being a challenge! In the words of session legend Tom Bukovac - who uses one of these and played it on tour with Joe Walsh: "it's a 12 string that plays like a six string". This one comes loaded with slinky strings that make bending and soloing even more of a breeze. If you put a standard set on, your top E is the equivalent of .020 ... but you might have stronger hands than me!

The word 'Rare' is the one of the most overused in guitar ads, but just to say that I cannot find a single one of these earlier Fireburst ones for sale in the UK right now (but yes, there are a couple six string Firebursts online). Just to be totally clear: the new ones - with no locking tuners or gorgeous red back and no hard case, just gig bag - are 'Vintage Burst'.

Hopefully this will be of interest to someone who's seriously looking for a really great 12 string guitar, not just cruising for a bargain. I am not a dealer, this is my personal guitar and I'm in no financial hurry to sell, so no low ball offers please.

The guitar is offered for personal inspection and collection in the UK only. I am in the South East, well placed for Reading, Oxford and London - but places like Bristol and Birmingham are just a couple of hours away. The M4, M3 and M40 are all within half an hour's drive.
