------------------------------
The "D-41" was designed by Martin public relations and researcher Mike Longworth and began production in 1969. The "D-45" was developed in response to concerns about the high price tag. As a mid-range model between the 28 and 45, it offers a unique and luxurious feel. This instrument is a used 1975 model. Features include a Sitka spruce top, rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard and bridge, USA gold Grover pegs, vertical headstock logo, hexagonal fingerboard inlays, solid abalone rosette and trim, a large rosewood bridge plate, a square neck truss rod, and non-scalloped X-bracing. The pickguard has been replaced with a matching black one. The non-scalloped bracing and SQ rods give the guitar a strong core and a rich tone, giving it a distinctive character unlike modern guitars. Its thick, sweet, and clear high notes resonate pleasantly. While there is a crack repaired on the fingerboard, the body itself retains its crack-free, original finish. The saddles have been sanded down to the bare minimum and are currently set at a standard string height. Playability is also excellent. There are some minor scratches and signs of use, such as paint chips around the tuning machine washers, repairs to the fingerboard binding, and filling in of the strap pin attachment holes at the neck heel, but there is no major damage and the guitar shows minor weathering, giving it a very good appearance. Whether you play a laid-back tune or a more loud, folky sound, this is a guitar that will let you experience the quality of a '70s Martin. It comes with an original hard case.
