The Builder’s Edition series marks a new chapter in Taylor’s high-end acoustic design, guided by the vision of master builder Andy Powers — whose signature is proudly displayed on the label of this guitar. This 2018 Taylor K14ce was among the earliest releases of the Builder’s Edition line, designed not just to sound exceptional, but to feel and respond with boutique-level refinement.
A standout model in every regard, the K14ce features a Grand Auditorium body shape with Hawaiian Koa back and sides paired with a torrefied Sitka Spruce top. This tonewood combination is deeply musical — the torrefied top delivers played-in warmth and quick responsiveness, while the Koa brings shimmering high-end clarity and a rich, focused midrange.
The Silent Satin finish and bevelled armrest and cutaway contribute to a remarkably comfortable playing experience, ideal for long sessions whether on stage, in the studio, or at home. The ergonomics of this guitar — from the chamfered body edges to the contoured neck heel — are among the most player-friendly Taylor has ever built.
Tonally, it’s balanced, expressive, and nuanced. From delicate fingerstyle work to dynamic strumming, the K14ce responds with articulate note separation and a lush tonal bloom. Plugged in, the Expression System 2 (ES2) electronics faithfully capture its natural voice.
This instrument is in stunning condition and all original, complete with its original hardcase and a signed label from Andy Powers — a rare collector-grade touch that adds to its prestige.
