Ampex 601 1950s Tube Mic Pre

For sale is one vintage Ampex 601 tube mic pre from the 50s. These were normally part of a reel to reel system but engineers like Bob Clearmountain and many others like to use them as stand alone mic pres. A fully restored unit can cost well over a grand. This unit has been partially restored in that it has been recapped and parts have been replaced. It sounds great, signal passes through and it’s flat. But, the meter isn’t working properly and probably a few other things could be improved, tubes could be updated (I stopped before doing that because restoration was going to cost me too much). This is a chance to use it as is or fix it up further. But, it is sold as is with no returns. I have a demo video done by a respected local tech if you’re serious about purchasing and want to see it.
