Solano Speed Shop — Neck-Through Prototype (Demo / Example Build)

This is the prototype of our Neck-Through bass — a design concept that’s available made-to-order rather than as a singular stock instrument. The photos, feel, and specification below reflect the full realized build, and this listing exists to show what a completed Neck-Through from Solano Speed Shop looks and plays like.

This bass was conceived to explore the tonal and structural benefits of a neck-through build and is paired with premium body woods and pickup layout to suit your needs. The result is a bass that’s solid, resonant, and articulate across the entire range.

The neck is the centerpiece — a multi-laminate core with carbon fiber reinforcement and a double-action truss rod keeps everything stable and responsive. The neck-through design enhances sustain and low-end focus while maintaining clarity and attack. A fretboard with a 10" to 16″ radius can be ordered and feels comfortable for modern playing styles, whether you’re digging into low grooves or landing higher melodic lines.

Electronics are configurable for maximum versatility: We will work with you to select a pickup or combination of pickups which suit your tonal requirements. The example shown has Fishman Fluence Soapbars that are the standard EMG size commonly used throughout the industry. Other pickup shapes will fit this body with no issues.

Hardware choices lean toward pro-ready reliability with a solid brass roller bridge from Schaller and stable lightweight tuners from Hipshot or Gotoh. The overall setup on this prototype is balanced, very playable, and true to the intent of a boutique instrument: expressive, dependable, and fun to play.

Note: This specific instrument is a prototype/example build and is not for sale (unless you just gotta have it). However, this exact design is available made to order through Solano Speed Shop with a current lead time of approximately 8 weeks. If you’re interested in a similar bass and would like to discuss specifications, finish options, and custom touches, this listing and the photos above serve as a real world reference for what your build can be.

The deposit amount is based on the materials selected with final payment expected upon delivery. Give us a shout and lets design your next bass.
