Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at a very collectible older 1950's era Shure Brothers 777S model crystal microphone set at high impedance and was intended as an affordable, rugged "general purpose" mic. It was generally used for dispatch, communications and the testing of industrial equipment on a decibel level but happens to be sought after by harp players today for using with the harmonica. That being said, the mic has been tested and no longer works.
This 77S model mic comes with an original Shure A25 model mic clip and the period chrome Ampex desk stand in which to display. This 777S will make a very fine display piece in any vintage mic collection due to it's superb physical condition.
Pic # 2 is from an early 1960's advertisement showing the 777's basic characteristics. This particular mic was only made for about 10 or 15 years before being discontinued.
The mic has the original label which is in very nice condition and completely legible.
The 777S is an all metal body with a satin chrome finish that's lite weight and easy to cup in the hands which is why this is an ideal harp mic. It's only 4 1/4 inches long X 1 inch wide and weighs virtually nothing.
The front grill is free of any dents, dings or odors which is always a bonus. Still has the original Shure insignia and the satin chrome body is free of any wear. On / off switch works perfectly. A new crystal element / replacement would have this mic working great again. Please let the detailed pics be your guide.
The original all metal Shure A25 model mic clip is included and it's almost as nice as the 77S microphone that is was designed to hold. It grips the mic firmly and allows for a wide degree of tilt up and down.
The mic clip is attached to the equally beautiful period Ampex desk stand that makes for a very stable platform. The base is solid brass with a dual satin and polished chrome finish. The stand has all 4 original pads and really compliments the mic.
A very unique part of American microphone history.
