I am offering an Ibanez Prestige PIA3761-SLW from 2024, the handmade in Nagoya, Aichi (Japan), legendary Steve Vai Signature luxury model from the notorious Japanese luxury guitar forge Ibanez from the Prestige series with a solid alder body including handy petal grip milling, double walnut-reinforced maple neck with slim PIA Prestige neck profile and 43mm locking nut, elegant rosewood fingerboard with elaborate PIA Blossom inlays and 24 jumbo stainless steel frets including scalloping from the 21st to the 24th fret, extremely versatile DiMarzio UtoPIA HSH pickup configuration, high-quality Gotoh Gold tuners, and pitch-stable Ibanez Edge Double Locking Tremolo Bridge, including Lion's Claw tremolo routing in a brilliant Stallion White finish with pearloid pickguard and gold hardware in mint condition, including black Ibanez Prestige hardshell case, manufacturer's papers, and professional setup with 9-gauge Elixir strings.
The partnership between Ibanez and Steve Vai has now lasted over 30 years. The fact that it is one of the most successful of its kind is evident from the almost countless model variants that Ibanez has released since 1987. From extravagant to elegant, the original “JEM” came in all shapes and sizes – and the next evolutionary stage, “Paradise in Art” (PIA), which first appeared in 2020, continues the legacy today with its extroverted design, agile playing characteristics, and numerous loving details.
This PIA 3761-SLW from the 2024 Prestige Series features a solid alder body that, in line with Steve's specifications, offers incredibly comfortable handling with subtly modified lines and more rounded edges, while the redesigned Petal Grip and Lion's Claw milling for the tremolo add visual accents. The 5-piece maple and walnut neck has a slim PIA neck profile that immediately invites fast-fingered playing and is crowned by a rosewood fingerboard with 24 jumbo stainless steel frets, which is decorated with elaborately designed mother-of-pearl and abalone PIA Blossom inlays. The workmanship on this guitar is—typical for Japan—impeccable, and you can feel that immediately when you first pick up the guitar.
The guitar also has a lot to offer in terms of sound: The DiMarzio UtoPIA HSH pickups, developed specifically for this model, feature elaborate 3D relief designs on their caps and offer enormously versatile sound options: tight bass response with sweet treble spectrum and controlled precision at the bridge, fat clean sounds at the neck, and lively, overtone-rich single-coil sounds in the middle. To prevent the low frequencies from dominating and making the tone sound dull when the volume control is turned down, the push-pull switch activates a high-pass filter on demand, ensuring harmonic brilliance.
A sound sample of the model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
The double locking Ibanez Edge tremolo bridge offers all kinds of embellishments to the tone – without compromising intonation or tuning stability.
