New Caladesi Lapsteel Guitar - Red/Tangerine with case

These guitars are reproductions of Fender's Stringmaster lapsteels from the 1950's. It is a professional grade guitar which should meet your professional needs for the next 50 years. In fact, the only difference between this guitar and the guitars I sell with the wood fretboard is the fretboard! Everything else is the same. Wood fretboards are expensive to make and these vinyl fretboards should last just as long and are easier for the player to see.

The black knob between the strings is Fender's version of a blend knob. It doesn't work like a traditional blend knob because it affects only the neck pickup's volume. These pickups were made by Seymore Duncan and are single coil pickups so turning the neck knob off gives you a true single coil sound. The nut is brass and the bridge is stainless steel. The scale length is 24.5 inches, and the tuners and pan are made by Kluson. and the volume and tone pots are CTS and the knobs are solid metal and not plastic.  The string spacing is very close to the original Fender string spacing, but the nut is slightly wider making it easier to play (bridge is 3/8 inch and nut is 11/32 inch).  Currently tuned to C6 but can come with whatever tuning you prefer.

The fretboard is a vinyl (same as what is used for car wraps) and is mounted on white polystyrene. The legs were made by Phillip Everingham (a long-time steel player and all-around great machinist). They are very sturdy and slightly heavier than what I have been using, but they also almost eliminate the "wobble" in the guitar even when the legs are extended so you can stand up. It comes with a well padded and rugged case.  The legs fit in a separate pouch on the back of the case. Professionally packed and shipment will be insured.
