Fender Elite Stratocaster – 1983 (Dan-Smith Era) – Schwarz – Originalteile + Upgrades
English:
Fender Elite Stratocaster – 1983 (Dan-Smith Era) – some Black – Original Parts + Upgrades. I spoke at length with the previous owner — he played this guitar throughout the 1990s in punk/alternative bands. It has real history and genuine mojo, not just collector gloss. This is a 1983 Fender Elite Stratocaster, one of the rare Dan-Smith era models built in Fullerton, California. Produced only from 1983–84, the Elite models are now highly sought after for their unique electronics, build quality, and important place in Fender’s transition era.
Condition:
Very good vintage condition with honest play wear from decades of use.The finish shows surface marks appropriate for age, and the neck shows some visible ringwear, but there are no structural issues.- Neck is straight- Truss rod fully functional- Recently re-fretted; frets are in very good condition- Plays cleanly across the neck with low, comfortable action
Electronics:The Elite Strat comes with the factory active TBX and MDX circuits, three Alnico V pickups, and the distinctive three push-buttons instead of a standard 5-way switch. All original electronics are present and working unless otherwise noted during inspection. The tonal range is huge — from classic Strat clarity to thick, boosted tones that were years ahead of their time.
Hardware:- Comes with original tuners and original pickups- A D-Tuna (Drop-D device) is installed on the 6th string- The original tuner for that position is included in the sale
Playability:The neck is one of the standout features: a comfortable rounded ’83 profile, smooth feel, and fast response. With the recent refret and naturally worn-in neck (see photos), it plays very fast and feels broken-in in all the right ways. These Elite models were Fender’s first major step toward modern Strat design — many of the concepts introduced here later became standard on the American Standard and American Deluxe series for over 20 years after Fender’s reorganization in 1983/84.
Why This Guitar Is Desirable:- Rare short-run 1983/84 Elite model- Key piece of the Dan-Smith era rebuild of Fender quality- Unique active circuitry (precursor to later Deluxe models)- Increasing in value among collectors- U.S. Fullerton-built, not a reissue
Included:- Original pickups- Original tuners (including the one replaced by the D-Tuna)- Fender Deluxe gig bag
Notes:This is a vintage, nearly 42-year-old instrument with character and patina that players and collectors appreciate. This is a private sale, therefore sold as-is with no warranty expressed or implied. Please review the photos carefully.
