1950s Leedy & Ludwig “Big Red” 10x28 Mahogany Vintage Bass Drum – Huge Classic Tone

For sale is a 1950s Leedy & Ludwig 10" x 28" mahogany bass drum in red finish, affectionately nicknamed “Big Red.”

This is a massive, great-sounding vintage bass drum with incredible low-end and presence. It sounds absolutely fantastic — deep, warm, and powerful in a way only these big vintage shells can deliver.

Important note on condition:
This is a player-grade vintage drum. The red paint is quite scuffed and worn (as it was when I bought it), so it is not a collector or cosmetic piece. That said, it is structurally solid, fully functional, and has been thoughtfully set up to sound great.

Upgrades and improvements:

• Fitted with premium Remo heads
• Springs packed to eliminate ringing and rattles
• Tunes up great and records beautifully

This drum has been part of my smoke-free professional studio (Vose Street Sound) and has been used as a special character bass drum when a huge, unique sound was needed.
