The EWS88MT system enables high-quality audio recording and playback (24-bit, 96 kHz), and consists of a PCI card and a 5.25‑inch breakout box (AD/DA converters) with 8x analogue inputs and 8x analogue outputs, along with S/PDIF digital input and output and MIDI In and Out. The breakout box can be mounted in a drive bay of your PC or can be used externally connected to the PC via a multicore cable. (This text is C&P from another offer)
I converted the PCI-Card with a raiser board (PCI-E to PCI-Converter), which was around 20€ to use this in my modern PC-Device, i would suggest the same to you.
Also, if you get yourself a 44 Pin D-Sub cable, which is around 5-10 €, you can place the expander box on your desk to get better access.
