Another Golden era Japanese short/medium-scale bass in super condition.

This one even comes complete with the original Elk hard case.

At first glance it says, 'Precision!' Take a closer look and you find there are few basses like it.

Elk guitars and amps are renowned for their very high build quality. They built all Fender's Japanese amps from the late 70s. (Check our other listings)

Many of their guitars and basses have become highly-collectable, not least owing to celebrity endorsements during the 60s and 70s.

But notably Elk also designed their own pickups which are now very highly-respected. They really put that expertise into this bass.

The BS-450 has a unique 3-pickup combination - 2 single coil 'lipstick'-types to neck and bridge with a mini-humbucker in centre.

Each has its own distinctive tone but get into the combinations and the fun really starts.

The tone goes from a deep rumble to a punchy wooden pop which is almost fretless-like - stopping at all points in between.

Overall this is an incredibly versatile bass offering the very best vintage bass tone.

Condition-wise...
It's all original and exceptionally well maintained.

Just some minor nicks to the body edges (see pics). Neck and frets are in super shape. Only very minimal wear.

We gave this lad a full pro setup some months ago and hasn't been allowed out to play with its friends since.

It plays beautifully with new strings, good intonation and a smooth low action.

Overall...

A collectable and versatile Golden-Era vintage bass in spanking condition and complete with its original hard case.
