This is a rare 2025 Custom Shop build that captures everything special about a great ’56-style Les Paul: authoritative P-90 tone, exceptional sustain, and the unmistakable feel of a Murphy Lab instrument. Tastefully aged and beautifully balanced, this guitar feels broken-in without being overdone.
Built with a plain maple top over a one-piece lightweight mahogany body (no weight relief), this Les Paul resonates freely and sustains effortlessly. The 50s Rounded Medium C neck, paired with a long-tenon, hide-glue neck joint, delivers a solid yet comfortable feel and outstanding acoustic response.
Electronically, the guitar pairs a Custom Shop P-90 soapbar in the neck with a CustomBucker in the bridge, offering a versatile range of tones — from articulate, woody cleans to thick, harmonically rich drive. The factory Bigsby B7 adds expressive vibrato while retaining excellent tuning stability and preserving the guitar’s natural resonance.
The Murphy Lab Light Aging is executed with restraint: subtle finish checking, lightly aged hardware, and a smooth, broken-in feel that enhances playability without distracting from the instrument’s elegance.
