The Rupert Neve Designs RNDI-8 puts eight independent channels of the world’s most beloved direct interface into a single rack space. Built around Mr. Rupert Neve’s custom transformers and Class-A discrete FET input amplifiers, this tour-grade active DI delivers the signature "larger than life" tone that has made the original RNDI an industry standard for touring acts and high-end studios alike. It is the ultimate solution for handling multi-channel keyboard rigs, drum machines, synthesizer walls, or simply as a premium frontend for tracking bass and guitars.
Key elements of its design:
Custom RND Transformers Each of the eight channels features a custom-wound Rupert Neve Designs output transformer, which provides essential isolation while adding 2nd and 3rd order harmonic richness that makes digital sources sound organic and "finished".
Class-A Discrete FET Topology The input circuit utilizes 48V phantom-powered discrete FET amplifiers with a massive 2.2M Ohm input impedance, ensuring the tone of your instruments remains bright, full, and uncolored by loading effects.
Massive Headroom Capable of handling input levels up to +21dBu (or a staggering +31dBu with the -10dB pad engaged), the RNDI-8 can take the hottest outputs from professional line-level devices, active pickups, and modular synths without ever clipping.
Dual Ground Lift Options Features a robust grounding scheme with eight "Pin 1 Isolate" switches on the rear panel for standard XLR lifting, plus eight separate "Ground Lift" buttons on the front panel that isolate the circuit ground from the chassis, providing a failsafe solution for even the most persistent hum loops.
Built for the Road Housed in a heavy-duty 1U steel chassis with reversible rack ears, the RNDI-8 is designed to withstand the rigors of worldwide touring while providing consistent, high-fidelity performance night after night.
User feedback confirms that the RNDI-8 is "sonically identical" to eight standalone RNDI units, offering the same deep, resonant low end and smooth highs that engineers love. It is frequently praised by keyboard techs and playback engineers for eliminating the need for messy piles of individual DI boxes while significantly upgrading the sound quality of the entire rig.
