This is a rare and iconic piece of recording history—one of the most revered studio microphones ever made.
Neumann M49b – Serial No. 2120 (late 1950s)
I’m reluctantly letting this go to help fund a major new studio investment, otherwise it would never leave my collection.
This M49b is in excellent, fully original condition—including its original AC701K tube—and comes paired with some newer external premium accessories.
It works flawlessly and sounds absolutely stunning.
Included in the sale:
- Vintage Neumann M49b microphone (SN 2120)
- Original Neumann storage box
- Peluso yoke mount
- Mogami cable with the original Tuchel connector
- Custom power supply built by Bill Bradley (Mic Shop, Franklin TN) and calibrated specifically for this mic
- Waterproof Gator case
Cosmetically, it shows only normal handling wear for a 70-year-old microphone. The grille is in excellent shape, and the internal components are exceptionally clean—no modifications, no repairs, and no issues with the capsule or electronics have been necessary.
Shipping will be fully insured.
International buyers are welcome.
Serious inquiries only, please.
