Way back at the beginning of the boutique pedal revolution, a certain Comic Sans-emblazoned, hard-clipping op-amp overdrive quickly rose to the top of the dirt box ranks, all but forcing guitarists to compulsively obsess over its remarkably amp-like tone. Warm Audio’s ODD Box (Obsessive Drive Disorder) hard-clipping overdrive pedal is an astoundingly accurate emulation of that very stompbox, right down to the side-mounted thumbscrews. Stomping on the ODD Box instantly unlocks the original pedal’s exceptionally touch-sensitive overdrive attack, taking you from a slight clean boost to roaring tube-style saturation with the twist of a Drive knob. What’s more, the ODD Box’s UK/US switch provides you with two distinctly voiced dirt tones to play with. It’s a loving tribute to tone that authentically mirrors just about every facet of the original, right down to the premium-grade through-hole components, perfectly capturing the transparent overdrive magic of the pedal that arguably defined the early boutique era.
