Mosrite Ventures Model 1965 Solid Red Sparkle #3085.

The Mosrite Ventures Model, which debuted in 1963, has undergone numerous modifications and remains a beloved classic among many artists to this day. Used in surf music and punk rock, it was a favorite of numerous guitarists, including The Ventures, The Ramones, Takeshi Terauchi, and Yuzo Kayama.

This vintage Mosrite, manufactured in 1965, features a rare solid red sparkle finish and weighs 3.95kg.

The neck pocket is stamped "1965 DEC 17," confirming it to be an authentic Semie Mosley instrument. The finish, even when the neck is removed, is also red sparkle, confirming this is an original, not a refinished, color. The fingerboard end is stamped "3085," and the body top features what appears to be Takeshi Terauchi's signature.

This guitar features the same top jack as in 1964. The headstock features a small "Ventures Model" logo. The pickup covers feature the "Mosrite of California" logo, a design introduced in 1965, and the knobs feature an "M" logo. The tremolo is "Moseley."
With familiar specifications like a slim neck, narrow metal nut, and zero fret, this guitar exudes Mosrite quality. The high-output pickups produce a powerful, distinctive sound.

While the "Sparkle" colorway from around 1965 typically features a gold or orange center that fades to a deep red sparkle on the outside, this golden-era model with a solid red sparkle is extremely rare. It's said that some Sparkle colorways were shipped without undergoing burst processing, making this a rare find.

[Appearance/Condition] There are signs of wear typical of a vintage guitar, such as scratches, dullness, dents, and wear on parts. The dot inlays on the fingerboard at the 19th and 21st frets are missing and are missing. There is a dent on the edge of the body that has been repaired with a red paint-like substance. All parts and wiring appear to be original, but some may have been replaced.

[Truss rod] Plenty of room for adjustment.

[Frets] Approximately 40% remaining. For optimal playability, a refret is in order but we have chosen to leave them as they appear to be original.

[Neck] Straight.

[Nut width] Approximately 40mm.
