Vintage 1959 / 1960 Fender Pre-CBS Stratocaster Body!

This late 1959 / early 1960 Strat body is incredibly resonant and a fantastic "project" body that you don't see on the market very often. Weighing in at a very light 3lbs 13oz, this is the type of tone-wood you'd expect from 1950's Fender Alder - light and resonant - incredibly crisp and aggressive when played at louder volumes. There's a reason SRV and guys like Mike McCready gravitated towards these old Strats - the bodies vibrate like no modern guitars do!

This killer body was professionally refinished many years ago in a very accurate and period correct sunburst. It appears to originally been a Sunburst finish and then Olympic White. The traces of Olympic White in the cavities glow under black-light, but it's really difficult to discern if this was a secondary re-fin or a white-over-sunburst from the factory. The refinish process preserved the contours nicely - no over sanding on this one. The ever-important Pre-paint-stick "nail holes" are present as pictured. This body was very well taken care of and was never the subject of any additional routes or other repairs. Just pure, killer pre-CBS goodness.

Pencil marks visible include the wide-swooping "C" pencil mark in the neck pocket as well as a partially visible body date in the trem cavity on the back.

This Strat body came to us with all original parts: the neck, neckplate, tuners, pickups, pots and plastics are available in our other auctions.

The neck on this guitar dated to September of 1960. The pots had late 1959 and early 1960 date codes.
We played this assembled and it sounded INCREDIBLE.
