1997 Gibson USA Ace Frehley Les Paul Custom

This guitar has been modified from its original appearance. The work was done by TC Harrison, the former Gibson luthier who designed the original Ace Frehley Gibson Custom Shop 300 run in 1996-1997. When I had the work done, I already had a custom shop version. And I wanted a blue burst silver sparkle version like the one Ace used in the VH-1 Rock Honors video. (Ace first got the original guitar around the year 2000 and sold it to a collector around the time that he made the Anomaly CD.) Back to the guitar in this auction. TC made modifications to bring the USA version up to custom shop specs:

Ace Face mother of pearl / sterling silver inlay (USA version has a decal)

Grover turners with pearloid buttons (these are square ones as opposed to the kidney bean shaped custom shop ones)

Mother of pearl lightning bolt inlays on the fret board (USA version has celluloid ones)

ABR-1 bridge (USA version has Nashville bridge)

Chrome metal back plates and truss rod cover with Ace artwork

And it has a couple of additional unique details:

Only the bridge pickup is wired (so you can use the toggle as a kill switch like Ace did on most of his guitars)

The Ace face inlay's hair is mother of pearl; the custom shop 300 version used epoxy.
