Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

They don't come much nicer than this.

You are looking at a desirable and rarer 2nd generation 1968 Electro Voice 666R dynamic cardioid microphone. This high end studio microphone is one of the very best from E.V sold over the years and it had a good 40 year run starting around 1950. I believe it was finally discontinued in the 1990's. It comes with a short cable in which to operate and a period E.V 420 model mic stand in which to mount.

Pic # 2 shows the early 666 model in an E.V advertisement. You'll notice the subtle physical difference where the 1st gen 666 had the rounded front screen as where this 2nd gen model has the flat front screen.

Pic # 3 shows the 2nd gen 666/666R data sheet with all the basic characteristics of this mic. You can always make a copy of this to keep with the mic that will come in handy.

Pic # 4 shows a data sheet with the 420 model desk stand and all of it's characteristics.

The 666 was a revolutionary mic being tough, reliable, great sounding and having a uni-directional pattern only picking up what was directly in front of the microphone cancelling out all background noise. It was the standard for all other mics of it's era and sounds even better than most quality mics built today if the 666R is in good working order. This one is perfect.

This 664 has been thoroughly cleaned, tested and gone over. You'll have no issues with any mics I sell.

The E.V 666R has the unique impedance board within the mics handle that allows you to adjust the tone of the mic. It has the 50, 150 & 250 OHMS setting. This mic is currently set at 150 OHMS giving you a smooth warm tone. Just the right amount of bass. If you want more bass to the tone of this mic you can simply switch the 150 OHMS wire with the 250 OHMS wire. It only takes about 60 seconds to do.

Again, this particular mic is in perfect working condition and has very strong output.

This is only the second 666 model I've had to offer in almost 6 years and I'm asked for them all the time. The last 3 I came across had compromised elements for years of abuse but this example was very well taken care of and while the physical condition is hardly perfect it must be noted that this is the nicest example I have come across. I'd rate the physical condition a true 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

The 666R is a very lite weight microphone with an all metal design. The stock painted body on this 666R shows lite scratches & small spots of paint loss. No engravings, dent or fractures. The front screen has no deformation, odors or tarnish. The E.V label looks amazing and completely legible. The front screen is free of any tarnish, odors or dents.

This 664 has a new foam inner pop filter to cut down on unwanted "pops" from breathing or windy conditions.

There is a nice shorter 6 foot cable with the rarer Cannon UA-3-11 mic connector that was specifically designed for the 666, 665C and DL-42 model mics. It's soft, pliable and works excellent but the locking latch mechanism is missing so the cable stays in the mic only with tension. Just a heads up on that. It has a nice Switchcraft male XLR end connector to work with most audio equipment and all guitar amplifiers. This cable alone is a $100.00 accessory.

The desk stand seen is a rarer 1960's era 2nd generation model 420 desk stand made by Electro Voice and comes with an original plastic 300 model mic clip used to hold specific E.V microphones such as the 676, 654A, RE-50, 666 and 655C model microphones. This makes a very stable and attractive platform, for the 666R mic.

This 420 stand was based on the 418 & 419 model which did not have the attach mic clip like the 420 but otherwise all 3 stands were based on the same magnesium platform and design. The upper portion of the 420 mic stand with the clip is detachable via a single screw.

This late model 420 model stand did not come with the E.V insignia on the front of the stand which the earlier models did.

The overall finish on this stand is quite nice. It has the original paint and it shows a minimum of wear as you can see in the detailed pictures. Just a few lite scuff marks but otherwise beautiful. I'd rate it a true 9 + on a scale of 1 - 10 and will certainly compliment your older E.V mic.

The 4 rubber pads are original and in great condition and keep this heavy stand from scratching any surface it might happen to sit on.

 It's appx 5 inches front to back X 4 1/4 inches wide X 4 1/2 inches tall X 5 1/2 inches deep. This stand weighs about 2 1/2 pounds!

If you need that perfect studio for every day use...this 666R is going to do you justice.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE AND USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY...

As with all my other vintage microphones...
