Up for grabs is ONE (one individual knob) used unknown Black Speed Knob (numbers 0 to 11) black hard plastic with OFF-White numbers & white dashes (the white color had aged a little). For 24 spline shaft.. This is the only knob like this that I have. The INNER Upper Center area has cracks (you cannot feel these cracks - they are internal).

  • SELLING IT AS IS / NO RETURNS / FINAL SALE.

Fit on shaft fine.

For 24 spline shaft.

  • This knob is not made by Gibson - but it will fit on the shaft of a Gibson control pot

Kind of Rare knob. And a funny knob to have.

  • Think / Remember Spinal Tap (movie) scene where the guitarist - Nigel Tufnel -  goes over his gear - and say how loud his amp goes --- These go to 11.

You can see the the INNER UPPER CENTER Area has cracks/ break in the plastic. These cracks / breaks are internal. You cannot feel them on the Top Side. And you do to see these cracks when looking at the Bottom Side of the the knob.

  • I'm not the original owner of this knob - therefore I do not know the story behind how the knob s got the internals cracks / breaks.
  • NOTE: I placed this knob on a pot a few time before making the listing and it went on fine (a secure fit) and it came off fine. So the cracks do not affect this knob form be placed on a guitar or bass control.

NO reflectors / NO Letter Print

This knob fits on a split shaft stem that has fine vertical grooves / ridges / splines. The last picture shows this kind of stem (the pot is shown for example only - it is NOT included). As you can see -- I mean a stem / shaft that is NOT smooth and that does NOT get held on the the stem with a screw). It can fit a long stem or short stem shaft. The last pictures shows a shows a pot with a short stem shaft (again - the pot is shown for example only - it is NOT included).

** This listing is for what is seen in the pictures and what is described in my description.

NOTE:

Since this is a pre-owned (used) knob - it might be a little loose on the shaft of your control. If this is the case - instead of you gently separating the two metal pieces of the split shaft:

  • I would highly recommend that you put a piece of tape or a piece of thin paper around the shaft of your controls -- so that the knobs will have something else (aside from the metal pieces of the shaft) to grip on to.
  • I say this because if you separate the two metal pieces of the split shaft -- there is a great chance that one of the metal pieces (or even both) will break off. I know this for personal experience.
  • Therefore it's better to play it safe and to add the piece of tape or piece of paper around the shaft.

But if there is a possibility - that this knob might need to carefully forced down on the shaft of your control.

Details about the condition of this knob:

The white color of the numbers & dashes have aged and are now an OFF-White color.

The clear color of the hard plastic (that is at the upper 1/3 of the knob) has aged / darkened.

TOP Side Main Area):

  • As I stated above:
  • You can see the the INNER UPPER CENTER Area has cracks/ break in the plastic.

  • Also - the Top Side has minor surface cloudiness.
  • And the Top Side - has a short light - but kind of visible hair-lie scratches near the # 10 area. This line is from how the knob was manufactured - it is NOT a scratch. You cannot feel this line (it is in / under the plastic mold of the knob.

The TOP Edges -  Almost all of the areas are fine / clean. There is a very tiny nick at the # 8 area. fine.

The SIDES - Most areas are clean. It has very minor surface cloudiness. The area between the # 10 and # 11 and the area above the # 11 have a few very short dash not to light / not too deep vey short dash nicks. And near the # 10 - area above the bottom edge has a very small nick.

BOTTOM SIDE:

  • The very BOTTOM Outer Edge: Very clean - but there is one very small nick at the area between # 0 and # 11.
  • The Bottom Side of the Center Circular Tube Area of the BOTTOM Side (near the center hole) - is mostly fine / very clean. It just has a few tiny / very small round bump, a few very short line type of bumps, and minor unevenness from how it was manufactured.
  • The BOTTOM Outer Side edge - - Very clean. But the area between the # 4 and the # 5 has very minor flattening (from how the knobs were manufactured). And there is very minor unevenness that kind of show up like tiny nicks.
  • Center Bottom Area (hole with ridges) - It has a little wear & the black color has very scuffs from having been placed on a control pot.
  • The other areas of the BOTTOM SIDE are fine / clean.
